It's actually quite good, obviously not on the same scale as the NRM but ok all the same.
The only problem you may have is riding the donkey from Darlington to Shildon. Once you are in between North Road and Heighington, you will be wondering if you are actually riding along the track bed (believe me, it can feel that bad). Then again, you may be lucky enough to get a 156, but that is pretty rare unless you are going to Whitby.
Other than that, good day out. :D

Yeah, I am presuming you have been on a 142 before and realised how bad the ride is. This is much worse, only for about 7 minutes though, but you wonder if you are going to end up in the nearest verge.

Yeah, they are sometimes on the Sunderland-Heworth run which I try to get instead of the metro just for something a bit different

Unluckily, or maybe luckily depending your preference, I have to travel on them frequently but I probably wouldn't have it any other way due to me being so used to them.
Don't let that put you off a day at Shildon though, it is worth it, even if you only plan on going the once.
A parachute good be a good item to have though, just in case you are thrown out of the pacer whilst on that stretch of track when it is bouncing around.

 I might leave the Mrs at home for this one in that case, even if she is from Bishops:lol:
