With the recent full opening of the Copenhagen Light Rail western orbital route (Letbane), trams make a full comeback to the Danish capital. Previously Copenhagen got rid of its legacy tramway in the early 1970s, in favor of buses. The modern light rail is not in the city center, but in the western suburbs. The city center is served by the sleek Italian-designed Ansaldo/Hitachi driverless Metro with 4 lines.
See all of this new mass transit in the following short films:
Since the 1970s, the refuge for all of Denmark's historic trams has been the wonderful rural tramway museum north of the railway station Ringsted. This is the Danish version of the Crich Tramway Village in England.
During their normal summer operating days, up to 10 trams can be in use, as also seen here with epic variety from different decades of the 20th century.
