I think we have all seen how opinionated their management is about franchising and publicly owned buses, it is undoubtedly going to end up being a big conversation some day, so may as well create a thread for it

I find it genuinely amusing they speak with so much confidence but must have forgot that one of their operations collapsed after not only failing to compete with a publicly owned operator, and taxi ranks, with a large chunk of them in that area being owned by the same people who own McGills.

That whole situation seems to have spun the management into grasping at straws, with the them releasing repetitive articles and tweets, some filled with misinformation and false claims about not only Lothian, but the Bee Network, all because they felt extremely threatened by a small conversation between Andy, and the SNP!

Apparently franchising is unfair business confiscation - along with nationalisation, council-run bus routes, they go on. Ralph Roberts' "X" account is a brilliant source for this hilarity.

Of course it is business confiscation! Whatever the rights or wrongs of franchising, it effectively prevents a business owner from carrying on a business they may have built up over many years. They may be able to sell the depot/ vehicles - but any accumulated goodwill is gone with no compensation.

Given the state of McGill's right now I'd argue that:
1. the Easdales certainly have the money to live their lives comfortably
2. they frankly deserve it for leaving whole areas like Clynder Road without a service; or important corridors like Greenock - Gourock at low frequencies

Given the state of McGill's right now I'd argue that:
1. the Easdales certainly have the money to live their lives comfortably
2. they frankly deserve it for leaving whole areas like Clynder Road without a service; or important corridors like Greenock - Gourock at low frequencies

1. I consider myself to have the money to live my life comfortably, but I’ve no idea why that has any relevance in a debate about bus franchising.
2. I assume you’re ignoring the 20 minute frequency service a few minutes walk from Clynder Road, and that every half hour is considered low frequency. (I suspect there are many places in the country that would love to have a low frequency service like that!)
