Man - eus 7 day season ticket???

I looked NRE and cant find a 7 day ticket between MAN and EUS. Only 1 month +.

Any help in finding this ticket is grateful.

Even if one exists, an All Line Rover will probably be cheaper!

I would tend to agree, a 7 day ALR is £430 for standard, or £284 if you have railcard. That's almost certainly going to be cheaper than a season ticket even if as A60K says one even exists!

A Stoke-London Euston one month season ticket is only £845, far less than the price of even 4 x Railcard Discounted ALR's, which comes out at £1136 for 4 weeks. Non R/C comes out at £1720

Even for 2 x 14 days the price tag is marginally above at £858 with R/C, where without it comes to £1300.

Therefore it would be very interesting to see the price of a Manchester season, if one does indeed exists.

Depending on the times you want to go you might be able to combine a Stoke (or Crewe) to London season with either a season or normal day tickets for Manchester to Stoke (or Crewe). Combining two seasons you'd only be able to use trains that stop at the changeover point, combining one season with one non-season you could use non-stop trains (but only ones that pass through the changeover point). Is Crewe to London valid via Stoke? Because if so a Crewe-London season plus appropriate day tickets might be the best option.

This is a trick my dad used to use years ago if he needed to go from Stockport to London twice in one week - the SOT-EUS season plus two day returns worked out cheaper than two SPT-EUS open returns.

Because season tickets are not generally available for long journeys

Presumably Virgin only want to offer monthly & longer season tickets for this flow

Long distance season tickets have an actual rate and a market rate. £283.90 is the 'market rate' for a weekly ticket between Manchester and London. If a weekly did exist it would be priced at a higher 'Actual rate'.

In this case, if a monthly ticket was surrendered after 5 days use, the process would be as follows...

Monthly ticket: £1090.20
Weekly ticket: Not Available
Five days use: £1310.00 (5 x £262.00 SOR (Anytime Return))

Refund: £1090.20 - £1310.00 = None (Infact you would owe the railway money)

If surrendered after four days use you would be entitled to £42.20 minus an admin fee.

NOTE: if you surrender it on the fifth day and it was 'reasonable' that you could have used it, you would be charged for use that day.

You could not 'convert' it to a shorter ticket for the period already used.

Yes, I've now found some that aren't 40 * weekly for an annual, my mistake.

The discussion I linked to said that (at least in some cases) when you changeover what is left of a season to a shorter ticket, then you may get a pro-rata refund of the difference, also with no admin fee. So, you would end up paying for 1/4 of a Manchester to London Monthly, and 3/4 of a Manchester to Stockport Monthly - which would be a lot less than 5*SORs.

It is mostly academic anyway, I don't think anyone would be crazy enough to take that risk.

Ah yes, I see what you are saying, I misunderstood at first.

What you would be asking for is a 'changeover' from the Euston-Manchester monthly ticket to a Stockport-Manchester monthly ticket after one weeks use. I agree this would be cheaper.
