Mallaig to Fort William line

Was up in North West Scotland this time last week, and took the (Scotrail) train for a half day trip from Mallaig to/from Glenfinnan, and whilst there had lunch at the Glenfinnan Dining Car, and also a quick look round the Glenfinnan Station Museum.

Anyway, my question is:- What do the flashing blue signals on the Stop boards at the end of the platforms at Mallaig and Glenfinnan stations indicate exactly? Presumably something to do with the radio electronic token block system in operation along the Mallaig extension line?

The flashing blue lamp means that the TPWS train stop has been supressed enabling the train to proceed without being tripped up. It will begin to flash once the driver in possession of the 'token' and has been given permission to proceed. The blue lamp is common on the West Highland line and I would imagine on other RETB lines.

Thanks. That makes sense as the blue lights only started flashing when the train was about to depart from the station.
