LU withdrawals

Just been wondering, does anyone have the numbers of every car withdrawn from the current stock. I can't think of reasons why many will have been withdrawn

At present, no fleet has any vehicles that are formally ‘withdrawn’ in a British Rail manner. LU doesn’t really have this as a concept. Several have vehicles that are long term stopped, but in all cases these will be intended to be reused at some point, even if not until the next overhaul cycle. The exception to this will soon be the Piccadilly line, where the first few trains are likely to be removed from service as they become due for overhaul and will eventually be dispatched for scrapping as their place will be taken by incoming 2024 stock, which should enter service next year.

Unit 91341 is probably the longest stopped, having been out of service since 2016, but this unit should eventually go through the CLIP works…

1973 Stock cars 888, 314 and the Russell Square terrorist unit have been withdrawn and scrapped.
Several 1972 mkII cars have been withdrawn and scrapped over the years due to collision damage.

Yes, I meant to say formally 'withdrawn' and extant. Clearly many vehicles have been stopped for the last time and then sent for scrap either from one off damage or during fleet replacement. Having said that, I am not sure whether the three ex-Northern line 1972 Mk1 vehicles that are / were stored at Hainault (which include 3411) have been disposed of - they are still visible on Google satellite images...

LU doesn't have the same formal 'register of vehicles' that the National Rail network has, just asset management databases of various types, so the terminology 'withdrawn' isn't really applied in the same neat way. Many vehicles have been held onto for long periods for possible future projects but in the end not seen further use, but tend to only have the label, 'stopped' applied (but that could also be applied to a vehicle having an exam between weekday peaks). Hence, scrapped is a probably more useful metric!

Which one was involved in 7/7? Was that unit 66?

166 366 566, the later two were kept back for many years, but have now been scrapped.
