Have you got times? And is it Spoons?

No, but someone else here may (I suggest posting in special workings section) and I believe so.

I have had a quick look on East Coast's Booking Engine & the 'normal' NX Time Table:

These are the services running which do no appear in the time table but do so on EC's Booking Engine (I am also listing services which do not appear on EC's Booking Engine but appear in the timetable - these are listeds as cancelled)

OUTWARD (NRW- LWT)

0705 CANCELLED
0754 CANCELLED
0930 SPECIAL
0945 SPECIAL
1030 SPECIAL
1110 SPECIAL
1155 SPECIAL
1157 CANCELLED

1202 - Not in TT but is listed on EC - but is not a Fast:

SERVICE HAS NOT GOT 1ST CLASS

Calling pattern:
  • Brundall
  • Cantley
    [*]Reedham

    [*]Haddiscoe

    [*]Somerleyton

    [*]Oulton Broad North

    and

    [*]Lowestoft

Normal Timetable Resumed

RETURN

I can only see two special services operating on the return*, they are:

1800 SPECIAL
1957, Not in Timetable but is Listed on EC

Service has 1ST Class - May be Cl170 Operated
Calling Pattern
  • Oulton Broad North
  • Somerleyton
  • Haddiscoe
  • Reedham
  • Cantley
  • Brundall
    and
  • Norwich

* It doesn't seem right though - are the Loco's operating normal timetabled services?

I never understand why they don't run those ECS workings as normal trains. Can't they run it into Norwich station before going back to the depot? Thinking also of the Great Yarmouth drags which have an ECS working in each direction.

These often go direct into Crown Point for operational reasons. Better not to advertise to the public then if anything goes wrong the TOC doesnt get its performance figures tarnished by cancelling them.

The Lowestoft ECS moves don't go to Crown Point according to the times listed as when they get to the other end of the line they work another service back. There are 2 services in each direction with an ecs as the retun leg from the first to form the 2nd.

I worked a pair of 170s on one of the diagrams back in 2008 & even though both where booked into the Low Level Sidings one of them needed to go onto Crown Point so Bombardier could finish off some repairs not done overnight. I am just saying that it is often better not to advertise something against the flow in case it doesnt run. The Lowestoft-Norwich morning passengers wouldnt be expecting an addional train.

The evening trains also have Q paths. That year hundreds started to head back to the station earlier than anticipated so we left 25'' early as the train was bursting at the seams.

No planned Q paths this year although of course 'control' are free to do as they please on the day.
