London Terminals question

Hi all

I have a Three Bridges to London Terminals ticket season ticket. I have used it without issue at all main london terminals over the last year. A while back it stopped going through machines as its got old so now I just flash my pass at the nearest guard to go through the gates.

This morning I was told at St Pancras that its not an apporpirate ticket and would only get my as far as City Thameslink.

Am I right thinking the guy was just being a pain?

I'm pretty sure the guy was right - your ticket in invalid.

I agree that it's confusing - St Pancreas is clearly a london terminal and you can get a direct train from Three Bridges (right?) so it would be reasonable to consider it valid.

St Pancras is only valid on the London Terminals ticket if coming in from the north.
From the south I think the northern limit is City Thameslink.

I think that to go to/through Farringdon from either direction you would either need a point to point ticket or one issued to "London Thameslink" or need a London Travelcard that covers zone 1.

When travelling from the South of London on this route, tickets issued to London Terminals are only valid as far as City Thameslink station.

If you wish to travel from the South of London to beyond (i.e. North of) City Thameslink, you'll have to have a ticket to the specific station, e.g. London St. Pancras International.

Alternatively, if travelling to Farringdon, you'll need a ticket to Zone U1 London, I believe.

"London Terminals" tickets are not valid to/from Farringdon.

A Three Bridges - London Terminals route Any Permitted season ticket is not valid to St Pancras and costs £70.10 a week, £269.20 a month or £2,804 a year. This ticket can be used to Victoria, Waterloo, London Bridge, Cannon Street, Waterloo East, Charing Cross, Blackfriars, Elephant & Castle via Herne Hill or Blackfriars, or City Thameslink.

A Three Bridges - London St Pancras route Not Underground season ticket costs £60.70 a week, £233.10 a month or £2,428 a year. This ticket can be used to London Bridge, Blackfriars, Elephant & Castle via Herne Hill or Blackfriars, City Thameslink, Farringdon or St Pancras.

There is also a Three Bridges - London Terminals route FCC only season ticket at the same prices as the Three Bridges - London St Pancras route Not Underground ticket. This ticket can be used on FCC services only to London Bridge, Blackfriars, Elephant & Castle via Blackfriars only, or City Thameslink. I don't see the point of buying this ticket. On the face of it, you get more flexibility at the same price with a Three Bridges - London St Pancras route Not Underground season ticket.

If you do have the Three Bridges - London Terminals route FCC only season ticket, it may be possible to obtain a £0.00 Excess Fare ticket to/from St Pancras on each occasion you want to travel there. If it is possible, you should do it before starting your journey. I don't know whether you can now do this because the detailed Excess Fare rules are no longer in the public domain. Hopefully, someone with access to The Manual, the internal railway industry instructions, will clarify this point soon.
