Cycling can be a great way to start or finish a long distance train journey

LNER is committed to supporting those who wish to cycle as part of their journey, and anyone cycling to or from a local train station.

However, we received this, which will undoubtedly ruffle a few feathers:

Please be advised that over the summer period, to create additional bulk luggage space, LNER will be assisting by reserving out bike spaces K0 and K99 on all 9 car and 10 car sets.

This will be in in place for travel dates between 01 July 2026 and 06 September 2026 inclusive.

*Can all staff keep this in mind when assisting customers, who may query the reduced availability of bike spaces over this period.

K97 & K98 still remains available for bike storage on a 9 car Azuma.
D0 & D99 still remains available for bike storage on a 10 Car Azuma.

Love it. Three bunkers to use for bags in the busiest period really helps.

I may have asked before but I’m sure I saw a seat cover on the very front row (facing rearward) on the northern end of a Lumo. Did I imagine this and if I did actually see it, is it a seat protector for bags to be placed on or was it to cover something like a wet seat?

There was at least one fast Anglo-Scot leaving Edinburgh today already over 100% reserved in Standard - as you say we're now hitting a very busy time of year.

Lumo do this for bags to be placed on. In fact LNER did it briefly before the nine-car Azumas had more racks fitted.

Ah I see. I did wonder. I never knew LNER did that. You learn some new every day!

Even my Bradford - King's Cross 225 was fully reserved with people in the vestibules!

I'm glad I wasn't joining from Leeds or I could well have been without a seat.
