I ended up speaking to them, they were very calm and understanding, said they were happy with the reimbursement I had paid and have cancelled pending claims.
I can’t thank everyone here enough for the advice and reassurance, I feel very foolish but also supported, so thank you!
I feel extremely exhausted by the whole experience and can wholeheartedly advise anyone who comes across this thread in a similar situation to:
  • seek the advice of the wonderful contributors to this forum, you have really helped me
  • Don’t be daft with anything like this, I have been and it’s really impacted me and could have been so much worse

Indeed. While we don't have your claim history, you have said that one recent claim was false and it only takes one false claim to throw doubt on others.

Thanks for coming back and your 2 end points are good ones. But having been through this ordeal, I very much hope you can now focus on something far more important - as well as getting a better night's sleep.
