I think it depends on local instructions and company policy.
Yes GwR safety case didn't allow for drivers to exceed 100mph on the 2+4 HST Castle sets even though a short stretch of 110mph existed between Bristol and Taunton.

Were speed limiters ever fitted to the 225 sets to prevent excesses over 125/126mph?

I think the five car diagrams in the slots they're in would not be posing any issues at all for Leeds if the movement from near half-hourly towards a 'half-hourly and one extra every two hours' had been kept. This would have called for a second Leeds - Doncaster service too.

Of course there were sensible reasons this wasn't kept, but unfortunately the rolling stock strategy can only flex so far. Capacity has been allocated away from Leeds and towards Newcastle. Of course, given the prices, this is also great for revenue.

The shame is that the full length (or even 8 carriage) 225's could have counteracted the drawback of having shorter Azuma's at other times.

Is there any chance that with all the testing they might find that any performance benefit is so negligible, they might as well have the full sets and be done with it !

Next to no chance. All timetable and performance modelling is done by computer these days.

They have an ASL - Automatic Speed Limiter, I.e. set a speed and the micropressors will adjust motor current to maintain it, but there's nothing to prevent it either not being used or being set to the maximum figure - 150mph.

Thanks. Same as the Class 90s that I am more familiar with.

Capacity is being wasted transporting a smattering of passengers to/from Bradford and Harrogate. Without these daft extensions, they could strengthen the 5-car services.

As had been covered to death, this will be ran by an Azuma off the Harrogate departure at the same(ish) time, with the Harrogate & back cancelled to provide the stock. No 91s to Newcastle for now
Anyone got any updates on this? I've found the diagram below, and really hoping it'll mean 91s to Newcastle, but am conscious that the quoted post was made after these diagrams were shared, so things could've changed.

As mentioned above, the use of a 225 set on this diagram is postponed until at least March, if it even goes ahead at all I'm afraid.

This morning , RTT reports the 1A04/09/13 1Y00 IC225 diagrams worked by 7-coach sets.
If the "gen" is correct, then the Monday 1st December 1A04 diagram set worked by 91130+NL17 closes 9-coach IC225 operation.
The next "gen" is the timetable change to include KX to Newcastle IC225 working, some experts are predicting those Newcastle workings will be postponed

Very unlikely to see them to Newcastle now
