Liverpool - Preston - Manchester

I seem to remember there is an easement or routeing validity that allows a Liverpool - Manchester or Preston - Liverpool ticket to be used via Preston/Manchester.

I am travelling on a Monday from Liverpool to Preston at 9am, then Weds afternoon from Preston - Manchester. Is there a nifty trick I can use here to save buying two separate tickets? Ta in advance.

Liverpool to Preston is valid via Manchester, if that is what you are thinking of.
(So an anytime return from Liverpool to Preston would cover Liverpool to Preston to Manchester)

just looked at southern ticketing website..

first off did.

liverpool to preston anytime rtn £13.70

and then

liverpool to preston anytime rtn via manchester piccadilly £13.70

so im assuming this is allowed

It doesn't matter as it's a group station, you could arrive at Victoria and carry on from Oxford Road if you wanted.

You are allowed to double back between these stations, as 91107 says they are members of the Manchester Group of stations.
