Little Moths and Gnats Bugs

Has anyone else noticed that there seem to be a large number of small Moths and Gnats about over the past few weeks? I don't know if it is because of recent weather/climate, but I have had loads of moths in my house and they seem to like eating my pullovers, as a few have small moth holes appear that I have to keep having to darn. I have cleared out and cleaned my drawers and cupboards and put down anti moth stuff, but a few still are coming out. I have not had this problem before. I have also noticed that there seem to be more that the usual amounts of gnats or midges around too and have been bitten quite alot which is unusual. Again I wonder if it is a weather issue? I know you do get crane flies / daddy long legs / spiders come in during the early Autumn, but it seems to be more of a problem at the moment.

Ugh, yes! My house is full of moths, all over the windows. And there are loads of craneflies as well.. it's not pleasant.

So, we've had a thread on spiders, wasps, fruit flies and now moths. Sounds like a job for...

Can't say I've noticed any more than in other years tbh. We did have 2 flying ant days this summer though which is unusual.

Not that unusual; we get 3 or 4 most years here in Epsom - one particularly heavy one which most people would notice without even trying and 2 or 3 minor ones where you'd only really notice it if you were looking at the ground and noticed a number of the things crawling around post-flight.

The general belief that the whole country experiences flying ants simultaneously is also a myth; it's a very localised phenomenon and when it happens depends on a number of conditions. Not just the weather on the day but how the nests themselves are doing through the year.

Yep, I knew their emergence was synchronised at a local rather than national level but did think it was an annual event, I don't recall seeing two in one summer before. Maybe the slightly warmer average temperatures in the sourh compared to the midlands are enough to make a difference.

Yes. Open the door at night and the signal box becomes full of them!
