Leicester Platforms - Posts between the track and platform face

Hi All,

Looking for some local knowledge within Leicester Platforms.

There are haphazardly placed wooden posts within Platforms 2 and 3. (See photo attached). There are three within platform 2, and two within platform 3

Does anyone know what these are??

They look wide enough to be step ups for staff crossing between platforms (from a less restrictive H & S era!)

That's exactly what they were, platforms 1 & 4 had them too (they may still have them, I've not looked for them for years).
I've used them on all platforms, back in the 1980s.
