Slightly off topic, but not much.

I had to sit watching a friend of mine put tartare sauce on a 'Spoons breakfast once. He did it intentionally and claimed to enjoy it. I was too sleep deprived and hungover to properly clock it at first.

Thoughts please?

Tartar sauce on chips is nice but not on your breakfast,that’s weird!
As for bacon rolls/sandwiches it’s a splash of tomato sauce every time.

As to washing bacon, I've never done that but a very good cooking style is to start with a little bit of water in the pan so that the initial cooking process is closer to boiling than frying.

My gran used to boil bacon rather than frying/grilling. I’ve never known anyone else do it.
As for BBQ sauce it gives me rampant heartburn.

Depending on how old she was, that may well make sense. Before refrigeration was widespread, bacon used to be a lot saltier than it is these days. You have to boil old-school ham before you cook it, for example (bonus points for guessing how I figured that one out!)

Red sauce here.

I will differentiate between ketchup and red sauce though; for me ketchup is decent quality and usually branded, but red sauce is any old gloop, often found in cheaper cafes.

That would probably be more resilient than whatever rubbish my local council uses... at least once it had been there long enough for a skin to form on the top!

According to articles from the time the West Midlands factory closed, the factory the sauce is made at is actually in the eastern part of the Netherlands, in the province of Gelderland and not in Holland.

I couldn’t answer the poll as ketchup is for bacon and brown sauce for sausages. Although I only put ketchup on where the bacon is exceptionally dry, like in the microvaved rolls you get on a train or where the breakfast doesn’t have beans, as warm bacon with butter or spread is usually fine on its own.

According to my wife, Hammond's Chop Sauce used to be very popular in Yorkshire. You can still buy it in some branches of Morrisons....although nowadays it comes in plastic bottles and is also manufactured in the Netherlands - probably in the same mega-factory as HP Sauce. Presumably the Hammond's Sauce Works Brass Band is no longer associated with the multi-national condiment conglomerate.

As an alternative may I suggest tamarind ketchup; sweet, sour, hot.
