This one sorry is a specific question.
John Marshall in one of his books from 1970 writes about my old branch line of interest, the North Lancashire loop line.
Now I've looked at what he wrote and done my own independent research and I concur with all the details and facts he writes about the line except for one - an extension of time in 1869 act...
The original act under the name Blackburn and Padiham act 1866 gave four years for completion (1870), and in 1867 the rest of the line was passed in an act of Parliament (Padiham to Rose Grove). This second act gave four years for completion (1871) and also extended the 1866 act from four to five years (1871). So the expiration of time for both is 1871.
John states acts for extension of time were obtained in 1869, '71, '73, and finally in 1875 until 1st August 1876. I have copies of all the acts except one - the 1869 one... I've looked at it and it makes no mention of any extension of time for this branch line, moreover, the 1867 act gives the L&Y until 1871 for both sections, so could John be wrong about the 1869 act?
