The guy is a wind up merchant. As a scouser is anyone from Liverpool actually annoyed by anything he has said recently? He is from Doncaster, the only good things about the place are its excellent rail connections to leave quickly.

You just have to remember not to take him serious. Everywhere I go you hear people making jokes about certain cities or towns, he just says them on the TV.
There isn't many places left he hasn't made a joke about in recent years I don't think.

Ha ha. That is my point exactly. Unusually enough some of my fellow scousers are getting really hot under the collar about him. He is a wind up merchant, he gets paid to do it. He amuses me.

He has one good point in his favour (offhand, I can only think of the one) and that is his loathing of Piers Morgan.

One thing is for sure. If there's one place that is oversensitive and beard paranoid grudges over issues the rest of the world has long forgotten about, it's Liverpool.

He has stated that the comments were taken out of context and only printed some of what he said. A newspaper trying to be controversial by not telling the full story - oh the surprise !!

The media do love a good dig at Clarkson and they do clearly have an agenda against him as he speaks his mind.

But seriously I like to think if Martin and Lucy were doing a property for homes under the hammer in Doncaster (they have done before) they would describe the area as "on the up". The area has largely recovered from the demise of the pits and now relies heavily on service and leisure industries following many large investments by companies such as Next, Amazon, Aldi, Ikea, Unilever and other companies who have chosen to set up national warehouses/offices here.

I'm proud to be from Doncaster. As others have said here too, it has excellent rail links (freight (Europort container depot) and passenger), not to mention proximity to the M1, A1, M62, M18 and M180, giving access to London, Scotland, Hull and Grimsby docks, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool docks (whatever comes from there!). Then there's the airport (which Sheffield had to muscle in and add its name to despite being 15 miles away). No wonder we're on the up with these links.

Then there's HS2 which will hopefully bring some kind of college/base to the town.

Clarkson is like Marmite. Love him or hate him. He is from Doncaster but his accent has been neutralised (on purpose or not?). He speaks his mind and I respect that. He gets a bad press because of this though. I had to chuckle at the recent episode of Top Gear though when he drove past "Duncster" on the A1M and referred to the town as a wind farm.

To be honest mate, as a scouser, my point was that if it bothers you ignore it. He only does it to get a rise. If people don't rise to it he won't bother doing it. The reason I mentioned it was loads of fellow scousers being up in arms. Ha ha. Which kind of proves what you said.

Top Gear and in particular Jeremy Clarkson are always taking the mickey out of Birmingham and in particular the Leyland cars and the Birmingham accent - it's all fair game and nowt to worry about.

They all seem to take the mickey out of each other too which is fair banter

That's right, coming from the west midlands originally the place has always been insulted and still is but who cares. Clarkson does what he does and gets very well paid for it, scousers do seem to have a low tolerance level they need to lighten up.
