Finnally after years of talk, rumours and lobbying, a new chord at Ipswich as been announced that will enable East Cost intermodel trains to bypass Ipswich yard alltogether.

This coupled with the the doubling of some of the branch line at Trimely and the eventual buliding of a third rail terminal at Felixstowe should see freight capacity sky rocket!

That is excellent news. I am proved wrong as have said for years it was all pie in the sky. Dont forget that next year should also see the start of re-doubling Haughley Junction. On the initial section to Ely that only leaves the long signal section Bury-(Kennet)-Chippenham & Soham-Ely Dock Jn single line to sort out.
