I used an anker cable and charger and the charger seems to have got scorch marks on the pins afterwards (I’m not sure if the scorches happened definitely then but it would seem likely)
Scorch marks have nothing to do with socket grounding, which is the issue here.

Agreed, seems more likely poor contact in the socket causing arcing than an RFI/EMI issue.
Another potential cause that's quite common is when you get a spark whilst plugging an adaptor/charger in as the filter capacitors quickly charge up, that naturally can cause burn marks after a while with all the plugging/unplugging. It's a good reason for having switches on a socket as they make/break connection much quicker than someone plugging/unplugging the item.

I have a Anker PD power bank.....so I never have to plug my expensive phone or tablet into any dodgy train sockets .....and reading this thread, I certainly never will.
