As part of my professional life, I'm looking at purchasing 5,000te of baled agricultural produce in Poland, and moving it to the UK for use.

One option is to truck it across the continent, but that works out at £2,500 per 20te load, so is completely uneconomic (as well as environmentally abhorrent).
Other possible options are to move it by sea from Gdansk, or railfreight.

I have some contacts within the shipping world, but don't know where to begin for the rail option. I'm sure someone around these parts will be able to help, or know somebody who can. The bales can be loaded either directly onto flat bed waggons and strapped down, or potentially containerised (but this is not preferred for various reasons).
There are rail sidings and small freight facilities near to the end point where the bales can be transhipped onto lorries for the last few miles.

Thanks for any help. Replies to thread of PMs both welcome.
