One person i follow on twitter had a very interesting day yesterday with revenue from Abelio/Greater Anglia.

Basics are Ga suffered throughout the day with various cancellations etc.

A decision was made for if i remember the 16.44 x Liverpool street to Clacton i assume to call Additionally at Witham.

However following a breakdown in communications this was not relayed to either the driver or i assume signallers or whoever needed to be informed. all except the passengers themselves :|

When the train flew through witham the next stop being Colchester all hell broke loose and revenue would not let passengers travel back to witham without buying a ticket.

for those who have twitter the link is below. you need to go back to around 18.00 hrs last night and look at comments by Mark Walker ‏@WalkerSparks + Phil N
@Phil_87

these are the guys who got stopped by revenue. below is a guy who is a professional moaner about ga.

GA Complaints

If the facts are as reported, then GA have seriously shot themselves in the foot here and can only make things even worse if they do anything at this point other than apologise. If a customer has a ticket to Witham then the TOC has entered into a contract to get them to Witham, plain and simple.

Imagine the stink if, instead of going to Paris, an airline dumped a plane load of people in Madrid and told them they had to pay to get back to France!

If the facts are accurate and the train failed to stop at Witham for the reasons given, then I cannot see any court entertaining a prosecution of someone who tried to get back to Witham without buying a further ticket. I feel confident it would throw any such case out and also have sharp words with the prosecuting body about wasting the court’s time.

In one of the tweets. Ga admit to not informing the Driver. very strange case indeed. i dont know yet how it finished up. im waiting for a dm from one person who was involved also.

here is the admittance tweet. this is going to get very interesting. as one guy involved is a specialist at contract law.

@WalkerSparks Hello Mark. Really sorry about this, I'll feed back to our Information team as it was an issue up here with that extra stop.JA

It's not that strange. It was the same on Friday, FCC and EMT had set up ticket acceptance with EC because of a fatality at Leagrave. The guard on my EC service was adamant these tickets were not valid, and announced it several times before departure- "the disruption has cleared to return to St Pancras". Both EMT and EC confirmed that wasn't the case.

I hope nobody got stopped by the bloke, but it's not impressive customer service at all.

I have seen reference on twitter etc to "ticket acceptance being lifted".

Hypothetically, say I'm travelling from Sheffielt to St Pancras. The EMT service has been suspended for some reason and ticket acceptance is advertised via East Coast. I make my way to Doncaster but, on arrival there, the guard says that the disruption is over and tickets will not be accepted via the diversion. Would I be expected to retrace my steps to Sheffield (adding another 45 minutes) before waiting for a doubtless delayed train from scratch?
