@ed27 I'm not sure if it will be of any use, but FYI your original ticket remains valid if you wish to make the same journey in a few weeks (I get the sense from how you phrased things you may be fairly regularly making similar journeys).

There may be good reasons to at least consider it and to monitor the 15:27 on March 22. To quote from the conditions of carriage:

If the train you purchased a ticket for is cancelled or delayed and as a result you decide not to travel a refund will be offered on completely unused tickets and you will not be charged an administration fee
