Sorry to go off topic but are there advantages to running Cyanogenmod over Android KitKat?

For the geeks and developers there are yes, however this is the very first version of Cyanogenmod that's official which does come with proper support from the manufacturers of the OnePlus. In my experience of having devices that ran stock Android and now Cyanogenmod 11S, I'd choose 11S any day of the week.

There are already plans for the OnePlus to get updated to Cyanogenmod 12 which is based on Android Lollipop, there are several nightly builds of it, but none are official, but OnePlus are also working on an official build for the device.

The difference between Android KitKat 4.4.4 and Cyanogenmod 11S is ther Kernel Version...

EH??? This confuszes me more. Socket at the top means your phone stays the right way up when in your pocket unless you knock about in clown pantaloons all day long.

When the phone is in my (front) pocket, the screen is facing my leg and it's upside down. Taking it out of the pocket requires simply holding the back of it in your palm and pulling it out. Since you have to turn your wrist anyway to look at it you don't have to physically turn the phone round.

With the socket at the top I suppose you don't have to physically turn it round if you don't take it out in the palm of your hand but use your fingers instead.

Absolutely agree with you in wanting the headphone jack at the bottom. Like yourself, I always put my phone with the screen side facing my leg and being upside down, I'm surprised that more manufacturers don't put the headphone jack at the bottom...
