ICE cancelled - what next?

Hello, I was looking at booking a train from Munich to Berlin, but the journey planner already shows a message - "The train is cancelled between München Hbf and Berlin Hbf. Please check for any changes to your journey prior to departure".

It does however still let you book this journey, so if I was to book it would I be able to use the (more expensive) ICE service at 06:57?

If you're able to book the ticket (I doubt that though) and it doesn't run, then you effectively have a flexible ticket.

No it is quite possible that booking's still open for a train that won't run. Either because the data update for the timetable hasn't happened yet or it's too late for it, or if they already know some changes but not all so they can't update yet. Book quick, as rvdborgt says it'll most likely be a flexible ticket for a good price

It’s for Saturday 30th November. Seems like the fast sprinter ice services are the ones cancelled, but there is one at 18:52 for 55€ for two in first. So theoretically, if I was able to book this, then it would be some flexibility gained as a result if cancelled…?

I had a look at the track work for November, seems like there is indeed works taking place, between Nuremberg and Erfurt, but they are scheduled to finish on the 29th of November. So far I haven’t found anything indicating this for the 30th.

That is correct. And if you want to book one of those trains, you should do it soon. On Wednesdays and Fridays, the timetable is always updated and chances are these trains will soon indeed be cancelled and thus won't be bookable anymore. Currently, it looks like it's just a footnote without actual cancellation.
