Albeit an old one...which I don't mind because the specs are quite decent its a Minolta Dynax 7 http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/minoltadimage7/Although its called
Minolta DiMAGE 7 on dpreview....
Anyones thoughts I don't think its that bad, and a reminder the S5700 will still be used as a back up and for general videos!.

Fred - you don't need all these new damn cameras.

Stick with the S5700.

You don't need such high quality cameras until you greatly increase the quality of your photos.

Its free though and is very SLR-like!.

Anyway it doesn't matter what camera he's got my 400D creams all over it :lol:

why do you need a new camera, just because it looks much more like a DSLR? I'm getting a new camera for christmas, as the camera I've currently got, I've had for about 4-5 years, and is getting older and older. It's lasted me for a while and is a good one. I'm updating mine, not just getting a new one for the sake of it!

I think what our young chap is saying is that he was given the minolta free of charge.

Mr 5872 please take a few moments and have a browse at other people's fotopic albums/collections then try some new angles with your photography of 455's etc, use items around you etc.

And please think a bit more when you are videoing instead of pointing the camera at anything that moves on steel wheels.

The term SLR is given to a camera fitted with interchangable lenses and non of which are fitted with video.

If you take the above tips you'll find your 'work' will improve and the ribbing you get on here will decrease.


Oh and 16csvt2700 my battery is better than yours! LOL;)

I concur.

Try videoing some proper locos etc. and we will be able to appreciate your handywork a bit more. 455s to most people are a big no no.

You made such a MASSIVE fuss over the S5700 and after what, 2 months you have got another camera.

No sense of adventure!!
The GCR/Loughborough/Nottingham are a *tad* far from Slough, 260-290mile round trip by train INC cross london transfer but I've done it more than enough times! (Three to GCR, countless to Lough & notts to see friends!)

That's not really the attitude to have when there are hundreds of other people who consistently phot and video stuff which is half decent...
