Anybody know the distance between Hull football ground and the station? Is it walkable with kids. Thanks.

It's quite a long walk.
In Hull station there's a bus station. Get the Humber Fastcat and get off after it goes over the tracks on a big bridge near the stadium. You should see it on the leftside of the trainheading into Hull.

Also stagecoach's 2 and the Humber Flyer run past it direct from Hull station.
To walk, leave the station heading the same way as the train was.
Then turn right twice to get onto Anlaby Road and it's a strait walk for a half mile-ish. You should walk past the Hull infirmary, EYMS bus depot, an army base an old theatre and the bridge I mentioned.
Very long road.

No. We lost!
It's a shame they couldn't put in a station on the line next to the stadium and then have trains call there on matchdays only (could even be radical and run a shuttle between Hull and the stadium station!) to make it easier to access for people traveling by train.

There was once a station at that location. The platform was only removed a few years ago. Edit: Boothferry Park Halt station could be seen until 2007 near to the stadium at the junction.

Would that have been Hull Botanic Gardens? That was on the line up to Beverley/Bridlington/Scarborough wasn't it? I was thinking of a station on the mainline rather than there personally.

The Station was Boothferry Park Halt and can be found on wikipedia.
I saw it before it was destroyed in 2007 at a junction right next to the new KC stadium. It was just a small single platform with nothing else left, no signs or shelters. Not much at all but I saw the potential for a rail service.
Hull Botanical Gardens is on the former North of Hull city centre line. The above link has a very old map which shows the junction where the halt I'm talking about was at the west side of, it doesn't show the station however.
The track layout looks to havr changed since then
