I hope so.A cursory look on Realtimetrains at today's allocations suggests this isn't true.
My collection is that Manchester being the highest frequency route has the highest proportion of 9-car workings.

My understanding is that trains via Wilmslow are usually 9-car, because both southbound platforms are around 220m long.A cursory look on Realtimetrains at today's allocations suggests this isn't true.

There's a roughly 60/40 split of 9- and 11-car Pendolinos respectively via Wilmslow, and probably a similar proportion across all 3tph on the Manchester route including trains via Stoke going off the RTT allocations todayMy understanding is that trains via Wilmslow are usually 9-car, because both southbound platforms are around 220m long.

Way bigger than that. 3 is 320m, 4 is 275m. An 11 car is 265m long. P2 is the only one thats short. My understanding is that trains via Wilmslow are usually 9-car, because both southbound platforms are around 220m long.
OK. Thanks. Looks like railwaydata is wrong thenWay bigger than that. 3 is 320m, 4 is 275m. An 11 car is 265m long. P2 is the only one thats short.
.. delayed completion time... ; ... cock-ups ... to which we maight add pooer initial estimates , starting too soon, i.e with insufficiently considered schemes, optimism bias, ... Uk is sadly not too different from grand EU ideas:There was a proposal to upgrade the class 390s to 140mph, which they were designed for. That would make use of the new tracks, but would also allow tilt to be used on the existing WCML beyond Preston. The timings to Glasgow then wouldn't be downgraded as they certainly would be using non-tilt trains without HS2 phase 2a.
The huge spanner in the works is the delayed completion time for HS2 London to Birmingham, also with all Handsacre work on hold. The 390s are likely to be life-expired by the time Handsacre is in use, so speculation about using them on HS2 has become almost pointless.
The magnitude of the HS2 cock-ups expands every time it's discussed.
Always use the sectional appendix, even if that is often unreliable.OK. Thanks. Looks like railwaydata is wrong then

It's avaliable on Network rail's website (bottom of the page on https://www.networkrail.co.uk/indus...ators/national-electronic-sectional-appendix/), and https://vaildata.uk/sa?lor=NW6009&seq=003&name= is also a good viewer of it (although some pages are missing). Is this publicly available? As I believe that there's been changes to how it's accessed.
I'd forgot that part of my website was publicand https://vaildata.uk/sa?lor=NW6009&seq=003&name= is also a good viewer of it (although some pages are missing).
