How long does it take to proceed Delay Repay?

How long does it take for delay repay's decisions usually? From my previous experiences, it took me a few days.

But this time, I had a train cancellation from Chichester back to London due to "safety inspection" on 28 May so that I had to take an alternative route ending up 1.5-hour delay of arrival time. I made a claim in the following morning, but still didn't hear from the train company. They didn't mail me for clarification like which train I eventually take.

Is it possible they missed my application? Should I email them to follow up?

Each company outlines how long they can potentially take in their passenger charter. Unless they've fouled that deadline there is no need to contact them.

Thanks! I finally figured out why it is taking longer time than expected.

Southern:

You need to apply for compensation online or by post within 28 days of your delayed journey. We'll respond to your claim within 20 working days, however unless there has been a period of disruption you should hear back from us within 5 days.
