How different is the New York subway

The stations on the NYC subway are undergoing a multi-billion dollar overhaul, and some of the new mosaics are impressive indeed. Google New York Subway Art for links. Here is a sample:

You could do a lot worse than the New York Transit Museum:

This is an excellent museum and do check all the links on their website because they have quite a lot of vintage subway stock (R1 series etc from the 1930s through to the 1970s) in working order on the main MTA system. These trains occasionally run in public service on Sundays and at holiday times. You do not have to pre-book these trips, just use the card that you have bought for an ordinary ride and GO!
