How close does a replacement bus stop need to be to a station?

Great discussion! From my experience with Northern Rail disruptions last winter:

  • Terminal stations: Use existing bus interchanges (e.g., Victoria Coach Station for London Victoria).

Whover wrote this (someone from Northern Rail?) is not familiar with London. Victoria Coach station is a long trek from the railway station. There is, however, a small bus station in the forecourt.

That sounds like there isn't an RRB per se, just a local bus which happens to run to Tunbridge Wells.

The notice has been provided by South Eastern, which implies it is a rail-related bus. Otherwise surely the bus operator would provide the notice?

Any rail replacement buses operated for merseyrail dont serve either Liverpool Lime Street or Central, more due to the road layout than anything else.

At Chapel-en-le-Frith the long station access road is unsuitable for full-sized buses with a low bridge and sharp bends.

A taxi shuttle back to the main RRB route and stops is by far the most customer friendly.

When I was on a RRB for Chapel station, where my car was parked, they just threw me out at the end of Long Lane with a cheery "Best of luck with the walk".
A letter of co0mplaint did elicit twenty quid compensation though

Never found where the rail replacement buses go from on the Weaver Line of the London Overground at Hackney Downs or Liverpool Street. Both got loads of exits.

Hackney Downs only has one exit. Rail replacement buses serve stops P and D on Amhurst Road (served by TfL route 276) rather than the stops outside the station on Dalston Lane though.

Last time I got an RRB from Liverpool Street, it went from the roadway by Platform 10, though that was pre-Overground. I believe TfL now usually advise using alternative Tube and bus routes, rather than laying on dedicated RRBs.
