Hornby DCC removal?

all my trains basically run on a non digital DC layout. I recently was a bit keen on ebay and quickly bought a Hornby class 43 pair for £87 (new intercity swallow livery) without checking that the "x" on the end of the model number meant the DCC was fitted. Can I simply remove the body and take them out? I have never run anything DCC so this is foreign territory for me.

AFAIK a DCC train will run as a normal DC train when no DCC signals are present

Assuming the DCC chip is a 'plug in' variety, if you remove it you will need to replace the 'plug' with a 'blanking plug' otherwise the train will do nothing regardless of how much electricity you try to pump through it.

I was lead to believe the DCC fitted models had the plug as a spare in the box, but as generalvegitable says, it should run fine on DC anyway, although it may be slightly slower to react than straight DC locos.

The model is R2702X and if you type Hornby R2702X into google it shows a Hornby page where the item is described as being DCC fitted, then it says, Hornby do not recommend running this model on a normal DC railway. So I would prefer to get the chip out if this is required.

Take the body off and see if it is a hardwired or plugged in chip. If it is plugged in remove it and replace with a blanking chip.
