the first thing I have to say is "why" !!!!! Irrespective of whether it is Dublo or not, why on earth are Hornby looking at the DP1 model, when it would be an immense struggle to better the Bachmann version. Jennifer Kirk reviewed the model six years ago- clearly after it had been produced, so the Bachmann project may have had a life of nine years at least. It smacks to me of Simon clinging onto his Meccano and Dublo inspired youth, rather than producing definitive Hornby produce. something like a class 82, 83 or 84 would surely sell more units than trying to mimic a Bachmann product.

The only interest for me from the above lists might be a D3069 in green if the footplate boxes are correct, and maybe a couple of "Salmon" and a BR liveried "Macaw B".
Is the TTA an upgrade of their previous somewhat tired version ?

Bit in bold - AC electrics don't sell well - and the ones which weren't very common sell even less well.

They'll have the sales figures for the 86, 87, 90 and 92 to work against - and bear in mind those had multiple liveries so a production run can be sold in various guises.

The Mk3s aren't 're-runs' - they are the first time the new tooling has appeared in these liveries

If they do some Blue Grey Mk1s or Mk2s i will be happy. You could also add NSE to that

Every time i have had ANY on the stand they sell very quickly. If they do them in the railroad range they will sell them guarenteed. They currently sell locos but not stock to haul them. Example below.

I am using rerun to refer to the fact that they are not new tooling, rather than to suggest that they are duplicates of preexisting products.

Pretty underwhelming imo.
Don't worry, you could always drown your Hornby sorrows with the new series on Yesterday right now... no, wait!

Someones dropped a clanger with this, I wonder if it fell foul of the now leaked embargo. It seems Hornby's Quality control issues extend beyond it's models now!

Don't worry the first season got me hooked...or in reality...the complete opposite :D

I usually allocate funds for 3-4 2nd hand & one BIG new loco purchase per annum. I think this year my money might be going to a company that starts with "Accura" & ends with "scale".

Ha, I am very much the same. My last and only big purchase of last year is one of their 92s, and it is absolutely stunning. Everything from the extremely impressive detail on the model (right down to the cab dials lighting up) to the presentation of the model, the box and the paperwork that comes with it. It really leaves everyone else behind.

By contrast, my only purchase from Hornby last year was a Caley Sleeper Mk2 BSO to go with the 92. I cancelled my order for the FGW Mk3s after the Waterslide transfer debacle and am bordering on cancelling my ScotRail 153 as well.

Is the Dublo DP1 an entirely new tooling, or a re-hashed Railroad Range Deltic with a metal body and modified ends? And how much are they expecting for this thing, given that we’ve just come off the release of what is possibly the best value Deltic to release in modern times?

I've not looked at any of the leaks, but I must admit Hornby are not a manufacturer I'm particularly fond of. Their stuff is often overpriced and not always of the best quality, but my main bugbear is with the attitude that comes across. Sure, they're the name that newcomers and "normies" think of first... but their arrogance at being the recognised brand could well cause them to come unstuck, particularly with the continued public relations mis-steps.

The only Hornby products that I own and won't be selling in the coming weeks are a couple of Regional Railways 153s, which although not perfect models are at least good runners which are well put together. If there's anything surprising in the announcements that could change but I'm not holding my breath.

Well, I just had a quick look at their website... and saw this:

(Image shows a section labelled "BR Sectorisation" with the example being a locomotive in Virgin Trains livery!)

Did wonder what was going on when a flicked over to Yesterday!

Anyway whilst there is nothing really of interest announced today, I did appreciate Simon's comments at the start of the Youtube video which stated that this year is a bit of a 'catch up' year which is probably the right thing to do.

It is an entirely new tooling, which makes me wonder: Why? Not only have we as you say, just come off the back of probably the most detailed & best value release Deltic in modern times, but DP1 was produced last year by Bachmann for Locomotion Models (the NRM). So it seems odd for Hornby to tool up yet another Deltic, purely as a LTD Ed for it's Dublo range - itself something of a risk!

I do like the idea that Hornby is paying tribute to the Dublo range - the first series of the Hornby model railway show did inspire me to collect a little bit of the original pieces, however, if they where to continue it i think that they should go the same route they did with their Bassett lowke range they did over 10 years ago and make a brief limited edition 3 rail train accessories.

Yeah i know there is someone who makes one off locos, but 3 rail Dublo has made a comeback recently and i reckon if they did it right with new sets for the 21st century and spares and new parts so that the older pieces can have a new lease of life, it could do rather well for itself.

The point though surely is just how many people are there out there who want to buy that stuff. I am 61 in a few weeks and remember two occasions when I saw "real" BR steam, and one of those could be considered iffy. My dad took me to lineside somewhere near Hinckley to see an apple green 4472. The other time was on Hatton bank when I have a very faded memory of a couple of clapped out GWR 4-6-0s leaking steam, so must have been winter, as D1000 stormed passed.

Would I buy any Hornby Dublo ? - no. Would I buy a Hornby DP1 ? No. If i wanted a DP1 it would be from Bachmann, but my point is just how many superannuated old stoats are there out there to buy Simon Kohler's fetished Hornby Dublo ? I imagine dozens pass every year, but are there really people younger than me who wanted to keep buying apple green pacifics year after year ? Simon wouls be better of concentrating on a real "Hornby" (20000-20002) I am sure there would be more takers, especially with some DCC third rail sparking and some DCC sound relay chatter and fan whirr

I've got to say the Dublo stuff does look stunning, but the prices... and then large express passenger locomotives would just look a bit wrong on a smaller layout like mine
