Highland Council lines up new Inverness bus service after Stagecoach withdraws bus services

Among planned changes, announced on the firm’s website, are the withdrawal of services 4 and 7, serving the Milton of Leys and Culduthel areas.
Highland Council in-house bus team is now gearing up to step with their own number 7 service. This will start running on Friday, July 4, to coincide with the start of the school holidays.
It will operate Monday to Saturday and take passengers from the Holm Dell and Culduthel areas to and from Castle Street.
The route will make stops along Drummond Road, Broom Drive, Drumdevan Road, Morven Road, Stratherrick Road and Holm Dell Drive before returning via the same route to Castle Street.
Chairman of the council’s economy and infrastructure committee, Councillor Ken Gowans, said:
“I’m delighted that our In-house bus team has been able to react so quickly and positively to the news that Stagecoach are withdrawing their service that connects the Holm Dell and Culduthel communities with the city centre.
Having reliable bus services to take passengers into the city centre is vital in order to help those who rely on buses to get around and to encourage more people to use public transport.
“When we set up our in-house bus service we said one of its strengths would be the ability to be flexible and to react to customer demands, so I look forward to seeing our branded buses covering the route.”
