It's quite normal for a settlement offer to run in parallel to proceedings. Don't read anything into that: If you pay, the proceedings are simply dropped. You'll need to make sure this actually happens, but as the court date is a month away, there's plenty of time for that.

Have you paid? If so I would get back to TIL and politely ask why you have now received summons.
They've received a summons either because they pleaded not guilty to the SJPN issued 27 March and depicted in post 16, or because a magistrate upon reviewing the SJP pack determined the case to be unsuitable for resolution via the SJP.

The court won't be told about out of court settlement negotiations (the clue's in the name). If the settlement is paid, the matter will be withdrawn from the court and the hearing on 29 May will be vacated.

It's confusing because we both haven't paid the settlement amount but we got only one letter today. For my wife only.

Today, I received an update on this case,

TIL has now offered another opportunity to settle this matter administratively.

I've not much to add but I would say if you can at all afford to do so I would pay any out of court settlement offer sooner rather than later. Then keep proof of payment and all related correspondence long term (eg over a year)

We have seen cases where people have left paying to the last minute and on line payment portals have not worked etc - sorting something out like that with TIL will be hassle and stress you do not want in my view.

The courts are dealing with thousands of cases a week, and the Royal Mail millions of letters. You will not always receive everything in perfect synchronicity. If you pay the settlement amounts in time you have nothing to be concerned about.
