Help identifying type of train

She's cheating on me and this photo was taken on the train she used to go meet with him.
I realise it's just a pic of the back of a seat with the tray down.

Does anyone here recognise this distinctive tray shape and know what train company use these?

Could possibly be from a Voyager. That narrows it down to either a VT or XC.

Doesn't look like a Voyager's ones, they're rectangular.

That's not a voyager, that looks like a Mallard refurbished mark 3 to me, could well be an XC HST.

Should clarify XC = CrossCountry. HST = type of train.

The Virgin Trains East Coast HSTs also have the same seating.

Thank you for the info, please forgive me but I'm not familiar with the terminology. Is there any way of knowing what line these trains run on to narrow it down? I'm most likely thinking it's a train from King's cross to leeds but I need to be sure.

VTEC = Virgin Trains East Coast. For you the rest is irrelevant.

They would run between Kings Cross and Leeds.

There's few trains to some places those trains run to.
Only one a day to Hull and Lincoln for example.
If you know the times she leaves King's Cross and returns then it might narrow it down.

Is the water a clue? Does any particular operator sell that water on board?

Definitely a VTEC MkIV somewhere on the ECML.
VTEC don't retail said brand of water however...
