I have just got back to the UK via Delhi. Air India have got additional flights from the middle east to Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, and from there you can connect on a flight back to the UK.

When I tried using the usual apps like Google flights, this option is not listed, you have to manually select it.

From what I understand, given the middle eastern airlines have reduced capacity, air India has managed to increase the number of flights from India back to the UK. From Delhi they had an A350 which was super comfortable. Great service no complaints, and cheaper than what I was expecting to pay. 1300 in total.

My wife's colleague did a similar thing, was supposed to come back from Oz via the Gulf but came back via LA instead.

A relative was booked from South Africa via Qatar to London on BA in April, and was switched to a direct flight without quibble when he asked.

My brother in law is currently airborne at the moment. He's having to do Australia to LA, LA to NYC, NYC to Heathrow. Taking him 10 hours longer, an extra flight, plus the extra hassle of all the new forms the US now requires you to fill out.

The online forms are a one off, once done future transit is without, and with facial recognition immigration is a cinch.

That is a Qatar Airways route. The direct flight is with BA.

A difficult time for those in South/ East/ SE Asia and Australia too.

Flight prices have absolutely skyrocketed.

A friend of mine who lives in Bangkok has just returned as his father sadly passed quite suddenly. He paid not far off £2k for tickets. Given it's the off season, sub £500 tickets are easily found in normal times.
