Last saturday (2/4/11) I saw, in the Tyseley/Solihull direction, while standing on the end of Bham Moor Street station, a silver 82 DVT sat in a siding.

Could anyone help identify this? I'm considering going out and going on a train to Tyseley just to go past it - is there any chance of a 67 being on the other end? - but it seems a bit much just to see what might just be an 82. Thanks.

It is one of the ex-wrexham and shropshire sets now used by Chiltern. It stables there every weekend after working from Marylebone. Yes there is a 67 on the other end. Also it is just a dvt not a class 82 as this was an early AC electric.

There is also the Chiltern training train which has been spending a lot of time at Moor St and Stourbridge of late, it's been a 67 +5 Mk3 + DVT. All ex WSMR stuff.

When I passed it over the weekend (numerous times*) it was 'A Shropshire Lad' 67012 on the end.

It is indeed 67012 which is completely de-branded and just sitting around in 2-tone silver looking horrible without the branding... RIP WSMR!

What I presume to be the driver training set was in the sidings at Moor Street at 9am this morning: Class 67+DVT sandwiching just two mark 3s. Acceleration with such a short formation must be pretty swift!

There are a small number of extra Marylebone-Birmingham hauled turns from the May timetable change, these do include a couple of off-peak workings.

It's not route training it is traction training

Thanks for the info, i have read elsewhere that one of the new workings is after 10pm from m,bone to moor st, and also an early evening service to stratford upon avon and back, can you confirm this.

The Marylebone to Birmingham workings (I’m leaving the Banbury workings out for clarity) that have been reported are as follows:

0546 Moor St - Marylebone,
0620 Moor St - Marylebone,
0850 Marylebone - Snow Hill,
1112 Snow Hill - Marylebone,
1630 Marylebone - Moor St,
1704 Marylebone - Stratford Upon Avon,
1932 Stratford Upon Avon - Marylebone,
2220 Marylebone - Moor St

That was a proposed diagram for this TT period that never came about. It's not the same as the proposed diagram for the May TT.

Oh, so it's changed then, sorry about that. Do you have any details about the revised proposed diagram you could share?

Just Birminghams, no Stratford as I understand*. Still would to know how a proposed one day timing trial got blown into a starts next Monday / new timetable LTP diagram!!

* I've been both right and wrong before.

Don't have the diagram at home, but from memory there's two in from Birmingham in the morning, one goes to Wembley LMD, the other goes back out on the 08.20 MYB - BMO. This set then comes out of use and goes to the LMD early afternoon where the other morning set comes back out for an out and back to BMO. The sets then end up working 16.30 and 18.30 to BMO. The 06.53 and 18.06 Banbury's should also continue.

Its a shame there wont be a loco hauled + MK3s from London to S.O.A, i think it would have gone down well, especially with the tourists.

Yeah it would be a nice thing to have during the summer tourist season. I always thought it was a bit of a strange move though, having to clear that extra section of route and train drivers on the stock for just a single round trip per day.

I think you will find that if there was it couldn't stop at any stations past Warwick Parkway unless it was short formed including Hatton.

As i remember there was breifly a London to S.O.A service about 15 to 20 years, and as i recall it was usually 47 hauled and only ran for a couple of summers.Cant remember if ran out of Padd or M,bone?.

I recall a Paddington - Stratford on Avon return working quite a few years ago. It was formed of an HST & ran for a couple of years Mon - Fri only I think.

I don't think there was ever a regular diesel loco hauled service from Paddington - Stratford but I may be wrong.

Some trials are going on at the moment for rebranding the ex WSMR stock. There are various versions being tried out mainly involving adding blue stripes and that sort of thing.

Any chance you could get any pics of that RPM? Would be interesting to see what they're up to with them :)
