Hi

Crossrail are planning to absorb HC but are also planning a load of new stock, similar to 319s. This leaves an unclear future for the 360s. Anyone got an idea where they will go, or will they stay with Crossrail?

If the planned schemes go ahead we will have no shortage of takers, The NorthWest and GWML will all be in the market for EMU's

Then it makes sense for them to stay at the GWML; OOC depot crew must have some knowledge of them for them to be based there!

Not that they really need to but why not merge the Heathrow Connect fleet with the National Express East Anglia fleet and run them as a enlarged combined fleet moved to wherever they would be best used?

As seemingly the forum's only member to not like 321s, I would advocate this idea. If they can go to Clacton they can go to Southend. Although, without the end-connector thingy they're kinda ugly...

I don't suppose you'd be too disappointed if they were sent down your way if electrification ever reached the B&H, right Walrus?

In my not-very-worthwhile opinion, they can displace the 165s/166s and the 321s. Not that they will.

They would be all right, but I'm aiming more for the IEP (or whatever becomes of it) to keep in line with the other routes, and take advantage of the high speed restrictions between London and Reading, and enable business travellers between London and Newbury and wherever else to travel in style and comfort.

So personally, I wouldn't take them for the B&H. They are probably best to form part of the Crossrail fleet, along with some of the 319s in order for the government to save costs. Either that or go to TPEx after the North West electrification is complete.

We have FIVE 360/2's and we OWN them not leased.

Most likely would be sold on as a small fleet to augment GE's 360 fleet out of the street ;)

Electrification is unlikely ever to go beyond Newbury. GW electrification will see the B&H downgraded to a secondary route. Exeter and Plymouth trains will be diverted via bristol parkway to take advantage of the reduced journeytimes.

Doubt it, IL will have more units than it knows what to do with for the foreseeable future.

Especially as a rosco buying them outright would lead to higher lease costs as less time to make money from them etc.

Nah, let them come to FCC and run them on the GN instead of the 317s, means more 321s would be required though but you could run some some services which don't require 12 cars but are too busy as 8 cars as 10 car services.

In fact, it's a shame the whole 317 fleet never went with One and let us have a newish fleet.
