Happy Birthday Kildare Commuter Rail!

The rail service, then known as the ‘Arrow’, began operating on May 16 1994, a date that also marked the reopening of Sallins, Hazelhatch and Clondalkin stations along with the opening of a new station at Cherry Orchard.

To mark the occasion I've put together a photographic collection of the route over the last 20 years.

Here's to another 20 and beyond!

Enjoy,
The Wanderer.

On 28 July 2007 James Palmer ('Metcam') and I did the 21:45 stopping service from Dublin to Kildare and 22:53 return, seen here after terminating at Heuston. This train was loco hauled on that date :)

sadly the optimism of those days is now gone

So are the Mk3s, more of which were moved out of North Wall last week, for a date with the cutter. But I'm not going to go over that very tired subject again.

083 - one of three 071s I still require for haulage.

Nice photo - almost feels like I am at the end of the platform wondering what 083 will work next!
