Received a call today from GWR. I've been offered a place for the February 2027 training course. This is for the Heathrow express role!
Hi mate, congrats on your offer.
Bit of a weird question but did they inform you to expect a call from them or was it out of the blue?
I'm in the HEX pool aswell so I don't want to miss an opportunity if it were to arise.

Hello mate.

Thank you!

It was a totally unexpected call. Been waiting months and it came out of nowhere. When did you pass your dmi?

Hi mate,

I passed my DMI in April, but thats great news for you.
I feel like they are going through the pool chronologically which is fair because the people that completed their DMI's earilest are seemingly being placed into training first.

It is done on merit order as well. So first in does not necessarily mean first out. Scores on the doors count for a lot and that is the piece that we never find out.

Thanks mate.

Someone posted a couple of months ago that the HEX training courses only have 2 -3 people. Which is starting to make sense now.
These courses seem to run every 3 months as one poster from here is starting the HEX training in November.

Haven't had an email to say vacancies for 26/27 have been filled?
When did you have the DMI
September last year for me - there was one or two guys in this forum saying that they had emails that courses for 26/27 had been filled or so I thought?

Yeah, I had mine June last year. And unfortunately people have received those emails, myself included.
Have you checked their correspondence on the jobs portal?

Yeah, theres been no update for me though either way - I'm half tempted to send an email asking but I also know the perils of harassing recruitment and HR teams too often

My DMI was in September too. Nearly a year ago! I had the email. Worth asking them just mentioning others have had updates. I suppose it's how many times you've emailed them in the past. Exeter seems to have the slowest turnover so it's probably the most desirable depot to transfer too for internals.

I too am a September ‘25 DMI pass (Westbury) and haven’t had the email about there being no courses (nothing in my online portal either)
