GWR on Google Maps

Hello all,

Turning on the 'Public transport' layer on Google Maps, it occured to me that some of GWR's routes have recently been included alongside most of TfL's lines. The routes cover from London Paddington as far as Bristol via Westbury, Swindon and Bath. It is coloured more of a black than dark green. See pictures for reference. It strikes me that Google have started to cover national rail services.

Good to see they’ve added this. I can imagine it will be added to and improved over time. Google Maps are beyond the standard nowadays.

Hopefully they’ll extend it across the uk and beyond, as Apple have done.

They’ve covered National Rail departures for a while, although I believe the line maps are a fairly new addition unless you’re selecting a particular service.

I wouldn’t rely on Google Maps at the minute to plan public transport though, as it tends to lag behind on updating when trains are removed/added from/to the timetable.
