GwR HSTs to be stood down

That’s about it. Not all doom and gloom. That seems to stem from those that just can’t let the HSTs go.

Or those like me who have a bad back and find a 150 on long journeys particularly difficult but may have no option in the short term?

Not all about the demise of the HSTs however much people use that to dismiss genuine dissatisfaction with where we are currently at. Most of which, I note, is from people not in Devon/Cornwall.

But thats the point surely? Units should be replaced on a one to one basis when they are ready. Rather than existing stock being removed before the replacements are ready.

Nothing to do with them being HSTs. I felt the same about TfW starting to scrap their 150s before they had their replacements ready too.

In fairness to the 175s the seats are much better than the refurbished HSTs.

In all fairness, assuming the 175s have had their tendency to spontaneously combust fixed, I can't see why they won't be up to the task. Certainly they'll be better suited to it than HSTs; can't imagine stop-start work is good for them.

You should really stop posting this sort of thing. People who work for GWR use this forum and if they see people saying seats are good they will be going straight to management to request the seats are swapped out

But all the HSTs have been replaced, there were no cancellations yesterday.

In the middle of winter smaller formations are needed in Cornwall than during the busier spring and summer periods.

Training is underway to be able to increase the amount of units used by the time capacity needs to be increased.

The main part of their tendency for them to just catch alight was mainly brought on at the end of their life with TfW due to CAF taking control of the maintenance. Assuming Laira maintains them correctly they shouldn't catch fire, you'd hope.
