GWR Gatwick-Basingstoke

Hello,

Hope this is the right place to put this! I’ve noticed that GWR seem to be operating a direct Gatwick to Basingstoke service from today (Tuesday 11 August) to Friday.

I was wondering if anyone knows why they’ve decided to do this for such a short period of time, and why it’s just this one service per day? Potentially a shortage of rolling stock?

Seems to only be this week on an altered WTT schedule where they've effectively combined 2 services into one - see this next Monday where it reverts back to 2 separate services:

Quite a common occurrence that happens every couple of months.

Also odd trains sometimes to swap a North downs turbo into a Basingstoke to replace a failed unit with the both downs coming off depot and leaving platform 15 at Reading. Saves threading one over.
