Couldn't get hold of anyone to find out where everyone was! Somehow didn't have Dave's new number and had completely forgotten to add Mark's number. If I had turned up, I'd have been half-asleep anyway due to lack of sleep on the northbound positioning move.

That and I ended up having the hugely rateable 43095 and 039. Pair of Valentas both ways, great fun was had! Although I do still need 306 for all-time, 056 for the year (ie, the ones you guys had). Plus I purposefully (vice any sleeping!) went to the window and expected to see you guys on the HST we passed on the Tyne Valley. Didn't see the new plan for the weekend as I was away from any computers from 0930 Friday until around 2000 Sunday.

Ended up passing the set you guys were on, AFAIK, somewhere north of Carlisle. 056 sounded good!

EDIT: Anyone get any photos of 095/039 at Carlisle? My records would suggest you were at Carlisle, possibly photting, as I set off down the WCML. If I'd known, I'd have looked out and given out a bellow!

EDIT 2: So please, don't infer I wasn't going to turn up, as I would have done (even if only at Carlisle for a bit!) IF I could have gotten hold of Dave (only person's number I had on that meet). Only found out last night I had the wrong number, after sending plenty of gen on what pairs of power cars were out!

I'm doing Aberdeen - Newcastle on Wednesday and return Thursday, so hope i get a descent set, and not some crap refurb + 2 MTU.

Also would you be able to put your gen in the 'GNER Sets' section in 'Traction & Rolling Stock'

Cheers

Just wasn't meant to be then...

Jord, I can tell you which power cars were paired on Saturday, although they may have changed since then! yorkie received a number of messages with gen on them during Saturday, but I'll get my full list in a moment and post them in the relevant place. All being well, you'll get a pair of Valentas and a Mallard set.

I quite like the GNER refurbed HSTs - had one from Exeter to Birmingham and it was very comfortable!

The Valentas on the set nearly resulted in game over at Bristol when they refused to start the train away, though.

I quite like the FGW refurbs better, got a nice warm feel to the coaches compared to the outdated 80s style un refurbed albeit springy seats.

Mallards don't look bad, shame comfy seats are gone, same applies to FGW. I find the FGW sets to look pretty cold!

I dont know about GNER but if a FGW MTU is driven properly it CAN be very hellfire!.
