Can anyone advise if you can break your journey on a Groupsave 4 for 2 ticket - specifically on FGW services?

I've looked on the web and can't find anything specific saying you can't but the FGW ticket website appears only to sell them for a through journey.

It seems that this depends on the terms and conditions of the undiscounted ticket. There do not appear to be any comprehensive terms & conditions for Groupsave applying to all Groupsave tickets. The EMT scheme, for example, is quite different from the others and applies to day returns only. There is a list of additional restrictions at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/groupsave_calendar.html but this is no more than a list of dates when the Groupsave facility is withdrawn due to a special event.

In the absence of specific Groupsave rules, the terms and conditions of the undiscounted ticket will apply for matters such a break of journey.

Indeed, and as a further point remember that GroupSave 4 is valid only when all four ticket holders are travelling together - i.e. all four must break the journey (and resume it again, if applicable) together.
