Not quite, no Colchester Town service and Weeley gains an hourly all day London service.

The idea of the emergency timetables by TOC’s is not because staff left, right and centre are booking sick, it’s to create to resilience, and have a timetable that will actually run, rather than unpredictable cancellations.

By removing services (and crew requirement) the idea with some TOC’s is to create a spare pool of staff that are basically on call, and as soon as the situation gets worse, you can same still maintain the emergency timetable (for now) by utilising these staff to cover the job.

Agreed I'm not disagreeing just pointing out the changes from normal operation. Weeley is obviously a bonus, no service to Colchester Town may be more of an issue for those who have to work or visit the centre of the town as the walk from North is quite long and uphill, though well serviced by buses.

That’s what they tell us, but reducing costs (maintenance, fuel, traction power) will be a major factor as well.
