Gradient post: level to 1 in 60

Hi All

Can anyone pin down for me the location of the gradient post, wall and brick hut in the attached image.

It came from a job lot bought at auction.

My best guess at present, based on other stuff in the lot, would be somewhere on the Leek and Manifold Valley Light Railway....?

I searched in my database for ERLs that both have level and 60.

I've only had time to check AAV but thought I would share a potential candidate list. I will come back later and check the rest when I get a chance.

The first part of the Leek and Manifold leaving Waterhouses looks (from a map) to be on the side of a valley with a road just below it. I can't see anything matching the brick hut but it's quite possible that didn't survive.

There may be a book on the Leek and Manifold that gives a gradient profile.

Keith Turner's book on the Leek & Manifold does not give gradients as such but I believe that the grade down from Waterhouses was 1 in 41.

I would stress that my guess of L&M is based on the similarlity of quality / printing to severl others in the job lot that I know were L&M...

Could it be on the standard gauge line to Waterhouses or on another line in the vicinity? The photographer might have made the L&M his main objective, but visited other places nearby at the same time.
