Why would they know about bus services? Working at the station doesn't mean they live in the locality..
Providing advice about alternative routes during disruption is surely a fairly important role for staff?

One member of staff at Camden Road impressed me very much a couple months ago. The Mildmay line had just completely shut down and, surrounded by a crowd of maybe 50 people, he calmly worked through each one, asking where they were going and immediately rattling off an alternative rail, tube or bus route. He knew, with no delay, the bus routes serving basically every station on the Mildmay line, as well as central London destinations, and he even knew the two buses required to get to Chingford and where to change between them.

With my original train/ferry booking the train times are set to match the departure of the ferry, all shown on the one timetable.

A bus would obviously be slower than the train, so there would 'maybe' have been the chance that we miss our connection, ie the 11:15 ferry, meaning we would be waiting another hour.

I assumed, for no particular reason, that Rothesay was a bit superior to Dunoon. It's not, and in my view the only reasons for going are traversing the wonderful Wemyss Bay station, and the sea journey. Given that the crossing to Dunoon is nearly as long as the one to Rothesay and the former is a nicer town, I'd recommend a change of plan.

You would have missed your connection so when on a tight schedule the bus would not be a realistic alternative. Hopefully you will be able to make the trip some other time, with better luck!

I made a claim (see post ref. 21) on 8th January, but so far I have heard nothing from Scotrail, except for the automatic acknowledgement email from them, also dated 8th January.

They stated I would hear in 10 working days

Should I wait a little longer, or send another email.

Another email would just go into the same email queue. Just wait a bit longer.
Thank you

Funnily enough, I received an email from them this morning, which had actually arrived late last night.

They agreed to pay compensation, but I had to send them the tickets, either defaced or cut in half. I assumed they meant a photograph, rather than actual tickets. I'm lucky I kept them.
