Hello everyone,

I’ve got a gateline operative interview 6 days from now for Northern Rail and looking for some advice/insight on how an interview typically goes. So far I’ve been told that they’re 2 group tasks and if we pass those then we go on to an interview on the same day.

Looking for help here as I’ve previously failed a conductor interview at Northern and have been trying to get myself into the railway industry for years as that’s where i see my career long term. I’d rather not miss out on this opportunity as well

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

I imagine the group task will be a role play of sorts. If so customer service is key. I know of another company that role plays someone without a ticket trying to get through the gates and the company want to see you use a zero tolerance approach to letting them through no matter what their story is as someone failed as they decided to use discretion to let them through without paying. As for interview will more than likely be a competency based one so use STAR method
