I'm planning a trip by local bus to Birmingham on Saturday and I'm wondering which would be the most scenic way of doing this? I have an ENCTS pass so am not worried about the different bus companies, I just have to be in Birmingham for 9.00PM for my booked train back to London!

Traveline throws up a route via High Wycombe, Thame, Oxford, Chipping Norton, Stratford upon Avon, but it struggles to show sensible times unless you split the journey in two at Oxford.

I'd suggest trying via Amersham and Aylesbury rather than Wycombe as it's less built up, but apart from that I don't think you'll do better without a much better knowledge of bus routes than mine. Still it's a starter for 10...

Googlemaps is the best way of showing the route for particular services, but it doesn't do "bus only" for a long through journey.

This was my original itinerary:
102 Uxbridge to High Wycombe
300 to Aylesbury
X60/150 to Milton Keynes
X6/7 to Northampton
96 to Rugby
86 to Coventry
X1 to Birmingham
But as this route roughly follows the North West line I'm guessing it's not too scenic!
